To knit the envelope:

Using long-tail cast on, cast on 23 stitches with white yarn.

Row 1 (WS): (p1, sl1 wyib) repeat to the last stitch, p1
Row 2 (RS): (sl1wyif, k1) repeat to the last stitch, sl1 wyif

Repeat rows 1 & 2 (linen stitch) for a total of 61 rows, ending after a row 1.

Decrease:

Row 62: ssk, (sl1wyif, k1) repeat to the last 3 stitches, sl1wyif, k2tog (21 stitches)

Row 63: (sl1 wyib, p1) repeat to the last stitch, sl1wyib

Row 64: ssk, (k1, sl1wyif) repeat to the last 3 stitches, k1, k2tog (19 stitches)

Row 65: (p1, sl1wyib) repeat to the last stitch, p1

Cut yarn and pull through last stitch to finish, leave a long cast off tail. Thread the cast off tail onto a yarn needle and use it to create a small button loop at the point of the envelope shape. Secure with a knot and weave in that end on the inside of the envelope flap. Weave in the other end. Block your envelope shape (optional).

To assemble your envelope, lay the envelope shape down wrong side up. Fold up the bottom edge up to just before where the decrease starts. Pin in place. Thread some white yarn on your yarn needle and sew up the two sides of the envelope. Weave in ends inside.

Fold the envelope flap down and mark where the button loop hits the front of the envelope. Sew a button securely to the front of the envelope at this spot. This is a not an item for babies or small children.

To knit the Heart Shape:

Using long-tail cast on, cast on 9 stitches on your knitting needles with hot pink or red yarn.

Row 1: kfb, k1, p1, k1, sl1 wyif, k1, p1, k1, kfb (11 stitches)

Row 2: kfb, p1, k1, p1, k1, sl1wyif, k1, p1, k1, p1, kfb (13 stitches)

Row 3: kfb, k1, p1, k1, p1, k1, sl1 wyif, k1, p1, k1, p1, k1, kfb (15 stitches)

Rows 4-7: k1, p1, k1, p1, k1, p1, k1, sl1wyif, k1, p1, k1, p1, k1, p1, k1

Row 8: ssk, k1, p1, k1, p1, k1, sl1 wyif, k1, p1, k1, p1, k1, k2tog (13 stiches)
