REP – Repeat
RS – Right Side
SL2 wyib – Slip 2 stitches purlwise with yarn in back
SL2 Wyif -Slip 2 stitches purlwise with yarn in front
St/Sts – Stitch/Stitches
WS – Wrong Side
Slipping a stitch purlwise means that the stitch is moved over to the next needle without working it and the stitch is remaining in the same orientation as it was on the previous needle. Front and back are directional in relation to your knitting position (in front of or in back of the needles), rather than the right side and wrong side of the work.
SL2 wyif (Slip 2 Stitches Purlwise with yarn in front)
- Ensure the yarn is towards you between the needles (as if you’re about to work a purl stitch), so it’s being held at the front of the work.
- Insert your right-hand needle into the next stitch on the left-hand needle as if to purl. Slip it to the right-hand needle without any additional action.
- Repeat step 2 to slip the second stitch
SL2 wyib (Slip 2 Stitches Purlwise with yarn in Back)
- Ensure the yarn is at the back of the knitting (where it would be if you were working a knit stitch).
- Insert your right-hand needle into the next stitch on the left-hand needle as if to purl. Slip it to the right-hand needle.
- Repeat setp 2 to slip the second stitch
