Knitting instructions:
Sizes: 36/38 (40/42 - 44/46) 48/50
You will need:
- Thick yarn (100% silk; 283 m/50 g) - 150 (200 - 250) 300 g in ocean color.
- Fine yarn (100% silk; 850 m/50 g) - 50 (50 - 50) 100 g in ocean color.
- Needles No. 3 and 3.5; circular needles No. 3.5, 60 cm long.
Double stitch: after turning at the beginning of the row, lay the yarn in front of the work, insert the needle from the right side into the 1st stitch, slip the stitch and yarn together. Then pull the yarn tightly back onto the needle, thus the yarn from the row below will stretch over the needle and create 2 stitches on the right needle. In the next row, catch both stitches with the needle and knit them together according to the pattern, either knit or purl.
Knitting density: stockinette stitch (thick yarn, needles No. 3.5) - 25 sts x 32 rows = 10 x 10 cm; stockinette stitch (fine yarn, needles No. 3) - 31.5 sts x 40 rows = 10 x 10 cm.
Note: This model is very loose-fitting. Moreover, silk yarn stretches after washing. The numbers on the gauge sample and measurements on the patterns are for the model that has not been washed. It is best to knit 2 gauge samples and wash one for comparison. Arrows on the patterns show the direction of knitting.
Back: with thick yarn on needles No. 3.5, cast on 5 (5 - 10) 10 stitches and knit in stockinette stitch. For the left edge slope, additionally cast on in every 2nd row 15 x 7 sts and 2 x 6 sts (9 x 7 sts and 8 x 8 sts - 4 x 7 sts and 13 x 8 sts) 1 x 8 sts and 6 x 9 sts = 122 (132 - 142) 152 sts. Mark each increase. Then, for side slopes, decrease on both sides in every 18th row 2 x 1 st. and in every 16th row 2 x 1 st. = 114(124 - 134) 144 sts.
After 38.5 (40.5 - 42.5) 44.5 cm = 124(130 - 136) 142 rows, bind off the middle 28 sts for the neckline and finish the left side first. On the inner edge for the neckline rounding, bind off in every 2nd row 1 x 3 sts, 1 x 2 sts, and 2 x 1 st. At the same time, 1 cm = 4 rows from the start of the neckline, bind off for the shoulder slopes on the inner edge 1 x 8 (9 - 10) 11 sts and in every 2nd row 4 x 7 (8 - 9) 10 sts. Finish the other side symmetrically.
Front: work as the back but in mirror image and for a deeper neckline bind off the middle 8 sts already after 27.5 (29.5 - 31.5) 33.5 cm = 88 (94 - 100) 108 rows from the total count of stitches and first finish the left side. On the inner edge for the neckline rounding, bind off in every 2nd row 1 x 4 sts, 2 x 3 sts, 1 x 2 sts, 3 x 1 st, in the next 4th row 1 x 1 st, and in the next 6th row 1 x 1 st. Finish the other side symmetrically.
Sleeves: with thick yarn on needles No. 3.5, cast on 60 (60 - 64) 70 stitches and knit in stockinette stitch. For slopes, increase on both sides in the 13th (9th - 7th) 7th row from the start 1 x 1 st, then in every 12th row 9 x 1 st and in each following 10th row 1 x 1 st (in every 8th row 15 x 1 st - in every 8th row 7 x 1 st and in every 6th row 11 x 1 st) in every 6th row 15 x 1 st and in every 4th row 5 x 1 st = 82 (92 - 102) 112 sts. After 44 (42 - 40) 38 cm = 141 (135 - 129) 121 rows from the start, bind off all stitches.
Assembly: Seam the shoulder edges. Around the neckline edge, pick up 146 stitches with thick yarn on circular needles No. 3.5 and knit 5 rounds in garter stitch. Then, bind off the stitches. Perform the side seams.
For the ruffle, with needles No. 3, pick up stitches along the lower edges of the front and back, starting from the shorter left side seam, picking up two stitches from each stitch between the last marks on the front and back. Then, in every 2nd row, increase the length of the row as follows: pick up stitches until the next mark, * turn, double stitch, knit back to the end of the row, pick up stitches until the next mark, repeat from * until the row closes into a circle. Then knit another 2 cm = 8 rounds and bind off all stitches loosely. Complete the sleeve seams and set in the sleeves.
