Materials:

1 skein cotton yarn, I used bright Yellow, #6 US Knitting Needles.

Notes: SKP=Slip 1, knit 1, psso (pass slip stitch over); K2Tog=Knit 2 stitches together; YO=yarn over, make sure you complete the last YO before completing the K2Tog on row 5.

Your stitch counts will change depending on which row you are working so I have added at the end of each row how many stitches you should have after completion.

Cast on: Multiple of 13 +2 (for small cloth: 26+2=28+8border=36) For larger cloth, add an addition 13 stitches.

Border:

Rows 1-2: Knit across.

Pattern:

Row 1: (RS) K5, *SKP, K9, K2Tog; repeat from * to last 5: end K5. 32 sts

Row 2: (WS) K4, P28, K4. 32 sts

Row 3: K5, *SKP, K7, K2Tog; repeat from *to last 5: K5. 28 sts

Row 4: K4, P28, K4. 28 sts

Row 5: K5, *SKP, YO (K1, YO) x5, K2Tog; repeat from * to last 5: K5. 36 sts.

Row 6: Knit across. 36 sts.

Repeat the above 6 rows for pattern. I repeated the 6 rows 6 more times.

Border:

Rows 1-2: Knit across.

Bind off, weave in ends.
