Size: about 6" (15 cm) high and 20" (50 cm) circumference length
Materials: Rowan (affiliate link) Felted Tweed Chunky super bulky weight yarn 55 yards (50 meters) / 50 gr, color 282 Midnight - 2 balls (MC)
Small amount of contrast color yarn of the same weight for the stripes. I used... (CC)
Needles: straight US 10.5 (6.5 mm) OR SIZE NEEDED TO OBTAIN GAUGE
Gauge: 12 sts x 24 rows = 4" x 4" (10cm x 10cm) in garter st.

Abbreviations:
K – knit
P – purl
k2tog - knit 2 sts together
ssk – slip, slip, knit
sk2p - Slip next stitch, knit 2 together, then pass slipped stitch over.
St, sts – stitch, stitches

m1 - - (Make 1 increase) - Make a backward loop over the right-hand needle and in the next row knit (purl) it as a regular stitch.
MC – main color
CC – contrast color
Pattern Notes:
The selvedge/edge stitches are worked here as follows: slip the first stitch and purl the last one.

On straight needles, with MC yarn, cast on 73 sts and knit 1 foundation row (this row is not counted).
Row 1 (RS): sl, k2tog, k5, (m1, k1, m1, k5, sk2p, k5) 4 times, m1, k1, m1, k5, ssk, p1. 73 sts.
Row 2 (WS): sl, k71, p1.
Repeat rows 1-2 fourteen (14) more times.
Bind off
Color Sequence:
Cast on, foundation row – MC
Rows 1-4 – MC
Rows 5-6 – CC
Rows 7-12 – MC
Rows 13-14 – CC
Rows 15-20 – MC
Rows 21-22 – CC
Rows 23-30 – MC
Bind off.
Finishing
Fold the sides of the cowl with face to face. Sew them together.
Weave in yarn ends.
