MATERIALS

Cotton Classic Lite by Tahki Yarns/Tahki-Stacy Charles, 1 3/4oz/50g balls, each approx 146yd/135 m (mercerized cotton)

8 hanks in #4445 cyclamen

One pair size 6 (4mm) needles OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE

Thirty three 1/2"/13mm buttons

MEASUREMENTS

Width Approx 26"/66cm

Length 56"/142cm

GAUGE

20 sts and 28 rows to 4"/10cm over mesh pat using size 6 (4mm) needles.

TAKE TIME TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE.

MESH PATTERN

(over a multiple of 4 sts)

Row 1 (RS) Knit.

Row 2 Purl.

Row 3 (RS) *K2tog, yo twice, SKP; rep from * to end.

Row 4 *P1, p into front and back of double yo, p1; rep from * to end.

Rep rows 1-4 for mesh pat.

NOTE

Knit first and last st of every row for selvage sts.

WRAP

Cast on 136 sts. Knit 1 row on WS.

Next row (RS) Knit.

Next row K1, p to last st, k1.

Buttonhole row (RS) K1 (garter st selvage), k2, k2tog, yo, [k6, k2tog, yo] 16 times, k3.

Cont in St st for 5 rows more.

Beg mesh pat

Row 1 (RS) K8, work row 1 of mesh pat to last 8 sts, k8.

Row 2 K1, p7, work row 2 of mesh pat to last 8 sts, p7, k1.

Cont in pats as established, keeping 8 sts each side in St st (including the 1 garter stitch selvage) and center 120 sts in mesh st, for 2 rows more.

Buttonhole row (RS) K1 (garter st selvage), k2, k2tog, yo, work in pats to end.

Work even in pats, and rep buttonhole row every 10th row 15 times more.

Cont in pats as established, omitting buttonhole rows, until piece measures approx 55"/140cm from beg, end with a mesh pat row 2.

Work in St st over all sts for 7 rows. Knit next row on WS. Bind off knitwise.

FINISHING

Block scarf slightly to measurements.

Sew on 17 buttons in center of St st band at top edge. Sew rem 16 buttons along RH side (see diagram for placement).
