Materials: Worsted weight yarn

Notions: Scissors, Stitch markers, tapestry needle

Needles: US6 or US7 depending on gauge

Gauge: Stockinette Stitch – 20 sts for 4”

Size: Fits up to 24” head

Special abbreviations- C4F ( place 2 stitches on cable needle, hold to the front, knit 2 sts, k2 from cable needle)

Eor- end of round

Cast on 84 placing an end of round marker.

Knit k2, p2 for approximately 2”

Rnd 1: C4F, P2, knit last it turned out to be OK days so 2 sts of round, P2.

Rnd 2: K4, P2, knit to last 2 sts of round, P2.

Rnd 3: K4, P2, knit to last 2 sts of round, P2.

Rnd 4: C4F, P2, knit to last 2 sts of round, P2

Repeat rnd 2 for 10 rounds.

Repeat rounds 1-4

Repeat rnd 2 for 10 rounds.

Continue pattern as set until hat reaches 6” from cast on edge.

Start decrease rounds:

*K12, k2tog, pm* repeat to eor.

Knit to eor.

*K11, k2tog, sm* repeat to eor.

Knit to eor.

*Knit 10, k2tog, sm* repeat to eor.

Knit to eor.

*Knit 9, k2tog, sm * repeat to eor.

Knit to eor.

Continue to decrease in this manner until you have 24 sts left on the

Needles and have completed a knit round.

The next 3 rounds, decrease every round. IE: *knit two, knit two together*, repeat to eor. Next round: *Knit one, knit two together,* repeat to eor. Next round: *Knit two together, repeat * to end of round

This prevents a cone.

You should have 6 sts left on the needles. Break yarn and thread through the 6

Live stitches to close. Weave tails in on the inside.

Block if needed.
