Knitted Cable and Lace Hat

Materials:
- Red Heart Super Saver in lilac
- size 7 circular knitting needles
- 1 Set size 7 double pointed knitting needles
- 1 Rd marker
- 1 cable needle
- 39 markers, of which 7 are red ones.
Notes: slip markers as you come to them. I used red markers after every 20 stitches, because it's easier to see where the pattern repeats start and end. The pattern is a 20 stitch repeat.
With a long tail, cast on 100, join, being careful not to twist the stitches.
Rd 1, 3: knit
Rd 2, 4: purl
Rd 5: * k 2, pm, k 1, pm, k 5, pm, k 1, pm, k 4, pm, k 1, pm, k 5, pm, k 1, place red marker, * repeat from * to * around.
Rd 6: * k 2, p 1, yo, k 2 tog., k 3, p 1, k 2 tog, yo, k 2, p 1, yo, k 2 tog., k 3,p 1, * repeat around from * around.
Rd 7: * p 3, k 5, p 1, k 4, p 1, k 5, p 1, repeat from * around. This is the inside of hat.
Rd 8: *k 2, p 1, k 1, yo, k 2 tog., k 2, p 1, k 2 tog, yo, k 2, p 1, k 1, yo, k 2 tog., k 2, p 1, *

Rd 13: repeat rd 7
Repeat Rds 6 to 13 two more times, for a total of 3 lace repeat.
Finishing: change to double pointed needles when needed.
Rd 1, 3: knit
Rd 2, 4: purl, on round 4, place a marker after every 10th stitch
Rd 5: knit to 2 stitches before marker, k 2 tog.
Rd 6: knit.
Repeat rounds 5 and 6 until 2 stitches remain between markers. Turn hat inside out and run needles though remaining stitches and draw up tight, run though again. Cut ends, weaves ends of yarn in.
