Knitting Instructions for Women's Cardigan:

Back:

Cast on 138 (150) stitches with needles No. 5 and knit 7 cm in ribbing. Switch to needles No. 6 and continue in stockinette stitch, evenly decreasing 34 (36) stitches in the first row = 104 (114) stitches.

After 49 (46) cm from the initial row, attach markers to the first and last stitches to mark the beginning of the armholes.

After 21 (24) cm from the markers, bind off for the shoulder slants on both sides in every second row 2 x 7 stitches… 4 x 6 stitches (6 x 7 stitches).

After 71 cm from the initial row, bind off the center 22 (24) stitches for the neckline and finish each side separately. To round the neckline edge, bind off in every second row 1 x 2 stitches and 1 x 1 stitch.

Left Front:

Cast on 62 (70) stitches with needles No. 5 and knit 7 cm in ribbing. Switch to needles No. 6 and continue in stockinette stitch, evenly decreasing 14 (16) stitches in the first row = 48 (54) stitches.

After 42 cm from the initial row, for the V-neck, decrease on the left side in every sixth row 10 x 1 stitch (alternating in every fourth and sixth row 12 x 1 stitch) — see note 1. Mark the beginning of the armhole on the right and bind off for the shoulder slant as for the back.

Right Front:

Knit symmetrically to the left front.

Sleeves:

Cast on 54 (62) stitches with needles No. 5 and knit 7 cm in ribbing. Switch to needles No. 6 and continue in stockinette stitch, evenly decreasing 11 (13) stitches in the first row = 43 (49) stitches. For the slants, increase on both sides alternately in every fourth and sixth row 15 x 1 stitch (in every fourth row 17 x 1 stitch) = 73 (83) stitches.

After 42 cm from the initial row, bind off for the sleeve cap on both sides in every second row 3 x 5 stitches, 1 x 6 stitches, and 1 x 7 (9) stitches.

After 4 cm from the beginning of the sleeve cap, bind off the stitches loosely.

Pocket (2 pcs):

Cast on 38 stitches with needles No. 5 and knit 2.5 cm in ribbing (see note 2). Switch to needles No. 6 and continue in stockinette stitch, evenly decreasing 9 stitches in the first row = 29 stitches.

After 16 cm from the initial row, bind off the stitches.

Assembly:

Sew the pieces together.

Button Band:

With circular needles No. 5, pick up 314 (318) stitches [80 stitches from the lower edge to the start of the neckline on the left and right, 58 stitches along the neckline edges, 38 (42) stitches along the neckline of the back]. Knit in ribbing, starting the row with a selvage stitch, 1 purl, 2 knit, and ending the row symmetrically.

After 2.5 cm from the start of the band, make 4 buttonholes on the right front as follows: starting from the lower edge, knit 6 stitches, bind off the next 2 stitches without knitting, immediately cast on 2 new stitches. Make 3 more buttonholes at intervals of 22 stitches, and finish the row.

After 6 cm from the start of the band, bind off the stitches in pattern.

Sew the sleeves into the armholes between the markers on the back and fronts. Sew the pockets onto the fronts as indicated in the pattern. Sew on the buttons.
