Designed to be open in front and slung low on the hip, choose size slightly smaller than your hip size. But it can be worn over one or both shoulders as well.

Gauge:
18 sts=4" before blocking and 13 sts=4" after blocking with Waikiki on larger needles in Scallop Lace Pattern Stitch

Instructions
Scallop Lace Pattern Stitch (multiple of 13 + 4)
Row 1 (RS): K3, *yo, k4, sl 1, k2tog, psso, k4, yo, k2; rep from * to last st, k1
Row 2: K1, purl to last st, k1.
Rep Rows 1 and 2.Note: Sarong is knit beginning at the bottom, back and forth in rows as if with straight needles.With Waikiki and larger needles, CO 95 (108, 121, 134, 147) sts. Work in Scallop Lace Pattern Stitch until piece measures 31 (33, 34, 35, 35)" or desired length. If changing the length keep in mind that when blocked, the length will be reduced by approximately 3". BO. Mark the bind off as the top of sarong.Block. Stretch to width of the finished measurement of the chosen size and pin. Making sure scallops are defined, pin the length. Spray with water and let dry.

Band
Note: The 4 CO sts at each end will be folded and sewn to form a loop for the ties.
With Party and smaller needles, CO 4 sts. Then with RS facing, pick up 92 (104, 116, 128, 142) sts across the top of sarong. Using the 

Cable Cast On, CO 4 sts at beginning of next row and knit across - 100 (112, 124, 136, 150) sts. Knit 2 more rows. BO.

Side 

Ruffle Trim
With Waikiki and larger needles, with RS facing and beginning at lower right front edge, pick up 96 (102, 104, 106, 106) sts. You will not be picking up the waistband sts which have been worked in Party.
Rows 1 and 3: Purl
Row 2: K1 *knit in front and back of next st, rep from *, end k1 - 190 (202, 206, 210, 210) sts
Row 4: Rep Row 2 - 378 (402, 410, 418, 418) sts
BO. Repeat for other side, beginning at top left front edge. You will not be picking up the waistband sts that have been worked in Party

Ties (Make 2)
With Party and crochet hook, leave a 6" tail and chain until 56 (58, 59, 60, 60)" or longer if desired. Fasten off leaving a 6" tail. Repeat for second tie. Using the 6" tail at end of tie, thread through big eye needle, go through 1 bead, knot the end and trim. Repeat for all ends of ties. Note: A drop of fabric glue at the end of each knot will keep it secure.

Finishing
With RS facing, at each end of top band, fold the 4 CO sts in half to the wrong side, making a loop for the ties to go through. Using tapestry needle and Party, sew to WS. Slide one end of the tie a little less than halfway through the loop; make an overhand knot to secure the tie. Repeat for other tie. Weave in ends on WS.
