Instructions:

Sizes: S (N1), L (XL)

You will need: Langyarns Liza yarn (70% viscose, 20% extra fine merino wool, 10% silk; 165 m/50 g) — 9 (10) 11 (12) balls of sky blue (No. 1069.0020); knitting needles No. 3; long circular needles No. 2.5; 5 buttons.

Garter stitch: Knit stitches on both right and wrong sides.

Slip stitch over: Slip 1 stitch knitwise, knit the next stitch, then pass the slipped stitch over the knitted one.

Lace patterns "Zigzags" and "Chevrons": Knit according to the charts. Only right-side rows are shown on the charts. On wrong-side rows, knit all stitches and yarn overs purlwise. Repeat from the 1st to the 12th row.

Ribbing: Edge stitch, * 1 purl, 2 knit, 1 purl, repeat from *, edge stitch (= 2 knit, 2 purl). In subsequent rows, knit stitches as they appear.

Note 1: Do not knit garments with silk or viscose too long, as they stretch in length during wear.

Note 2: For sizes S and L, knit the stitches marked in gray on the "Chevrons" lace pattern chart in stockinette stitch (1 knit stitch on the right side or 1 purl stitch on the wrong side).

Note 3: When increasing or decreasing stitches, ensure the number of yarn overs equals the number of stitches knitted together.

Gauge: Lace patterns (needles No. 3) — 22 stitches x 33 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Instructions for knitting a lace cardigan for women

Back: Cast on 112 (122) 132 (144) stitches with needles No. 3 and knit 4 rows of garter stitch. Continue knitting as follows: edge stitch, knit "Zigzags" lace pattern according to the chart starting from letter A (A) A (B), repeat the pattern 21 (23) 25 (27) times and end at letter a (a) a (b), edge stitch.

After 42 rows, knit 4 rows of garter stitch and continue knitting as follows: edge stitch, knit "Chevrons" lace pattern according to the chart starting from letter A (B) C (D), repeat the pattern 6 times and end at letter a (b) c (d), edge stitch.

After 48 (47) 46 (44) cm from the starting row (measured hanging), bind off for the armholes on both sides in every 2nd row 1 (2) 2 (2) x 2 stitches, 7 (9) 8 (8) x 1 stitch, and in every 4th row 2 x 1 stitch (see note 3) = 90 (92) 104 (116) stitches.

After 20 (21) 22 (24) cm from the beginning of the armholes, bind off for the shoulder slope on both sides in every 2nd row 1 x 6 stitches, 3 x 7 stitches (1 x 6 stitches… 3 x 7 stitches) 1 x 7 stitches, 3 x 8 stitches (4 x 9 stitches). Simultaneously, with the first shoulder decrease, bind off the center 30 (32) 36 (38) stitches for the neckline and finish each side separately. For rounding, bind off on the inner edge in every 2nd row 1 x 2 stitches and 1 x 1 stitch.

Left front: Cast on 57 (62) 67 (74) stitches with needles No. 3 and knit 4 rows of garter stitch. Continue knitting as follows: edge stitch, knit "Zigzags" lace pattern according to the chart starting from letter A (A) A (B), repeat the pattern 10 (11) 12 (13) times, end at letter a (a) a (b), edge stitch.

After 42 rows, knit 4 rows of garter stitch and continue knitting as follows: edge stitch, knit "Chevrons" lace pattern according to the chart starting from letter A (B) C (D), repeat the pattern 3 times and end at letter e, edge stitch. For size XL, decrease 1 stitch in the 1st row = 57 (62) 67 (73) stitches. Perform decreases for the armhole on the right side as for the back.

After 42 (42) 41 (41) cm from the starting row, decrease for the neckline on the left side in every 4th row 16 (17) 20 (23) x 1 stitch and in every 6th row 3 (3) 2 (0) x 1 stitch (see note 3). Perform shoulder slope decreases on the right side as for the back.

Right front: Knit symmetrically to the left front. Knit "Chevrons" lace pattern according to the chart starting from letter E, repeat the pattern 3 times, end at letter a (b) c (d). For size XL, decrease 1 stitch in the 1st row = 57 (62) 67 (73) stitches.

Sleeves: Cast on 47 (52) 57 (64) stitches with needles No. 3 and knit 4 rows of garter stitch. Continue knitting as follows: edge stitch, knit "Zigzags" lace pattern according to the chart starting from letter A (A) A (B), repeat the pattern 8 (9) 10 (10) times and end at letter a (a) a (b), edge stitch. For the sleeve shaping, increase on both sides alternately in every 10th row and every 12th row 13 x 1 stitch = 73 (78) 83 (90) stitches, knitting the increased stitches according to the pattern.

After 42 rows, knit 4 rows of garter stitch and continue knitting "Chevrons" lace pattern according to the chart so that the middle stitch of the pattern aligns with the middle of the sleeve.

After 48 cm from the starting row, bind off for the sleeve cap on both sides in every 2nd row 1 (2) 2 (2) x 2 stitches, then decrease 7 (8) 9 (8) x 1 stitch, then in every 4th row 2 x 1 stitch and in every 2nd row 9 (6) 7 (9) x 1 stitch, bind off 3 x 2 stitches and 1 x 3 stitches.

After 15 (15) 16 (16) cm from the beginning of the sleeve cap, bind off the remaining stitches freely.

Assembly: Sew shoulder seams.

Button band: Using circular needles No. 2.5, pick up and knit 398 (402) 406 (410) stitches along the edges of the front pieces and the neckline of the back (= 108 (108) 106 (106) stitches along each front edge up to the neckline and back, 70 (70) 73 (73) stitches along the neckline slopes, 42 (46) 48 (52) stitches along the back neckline). Knit in ribbing, starting the first wrong-side row: edge stitch, 1 purl, 2 knit, end the row symmetrically.

After 1.5 cm from the beginning of the button band, evenly distribute 5 buttonholes on the right side of the band as follows: starting from the lower edge, knit 6 (6) 4 (4) stitches, bind off the next 2 stitches without knitting and immediately cast on 2 stitches. Make 4 more buttonholes with 22 stitches between them, end the row.

After 3.5 cm from the beginning of the button band, bind off the stitches loosely in pattern.

Sew in the sleeves. Sew side seams and sleeve seams. Sew on the buttons.
