GAUGE

16 stitches and 18 rows = 4 inches in chevron pattern with yarn doubled

SIZE

Finished Dimensions: Approximately 25 inches wide x 32 inches long

NOTES

YARN DOUBLED

For this pattern you’ll use Serif doubled. To do this, you can either pull one strand from the inside of the ball and one strand from the outside, or divide each skein into two even balls and pull a strand from each.

STITCH MULTIPLE

This pattern works over a multiple of 14 plus 2 stitches.

PATTERN

With Color A held double (see Notes), cast on 100 stitches. We used a basic Long Tail Cast On. (Try not to leave too long a tail when you cast on so that all of your stripes will be approximately the same length.)

*Row 1 (right side): K1, slip slip knit (ssk), *k10, knit two together (k2tog), ssk, repeat from * to last 13 stitches, k10, k2tog, k1. [14 stitches decreased]

Row 2 (wrong side): K6, *[knit into front and back (kfb)] 2 times, k10, repeat from * to last 8 stitches, [kfb] 2 times, k6. [14 stitches increased]

Repeat Rows 1 and 2 until stripe measures approximately 4 inches or, if using Serif, until you have used as much of Color A as you can, ending with Round 2.

Drop Color A.

Repeat from * with Colors B–H, making sure to always switch colors on the right side. For Color H, end one row early with Row 1 and about five yards left for binding off.

Bind-Off Row (wrong side): Working as for Row 2, bind off 5 stitches, *[knit into next stitch and leave stitch on left needle, bind off 1 stitch on right needle, knit into back of stitch on left needle and let stitch drop off needle, bind off 1 stitch on right needle] 2 times, bind off 10 stitches (as usual), repeat from * to last 8 stitches, [knit into next stitch and leave stitch on left needle, bind off 1 stitch on right needle, knit into back of stitch on left needle and let stitch drop off needle, bind off 1 stitch on right needle] 2 times, bind off 6 stitches (as usual), pull yarn through last stitch.

FINISHING

Weave in the ends and wet block as desired.
