You will need
- Stylecraft Special DK (100% acrylic, 295m/100g), 1 ball of each:
- Yarn A Lipstick (1246)
- Yarn C White (1001)
- Yarn D Camel (1420)
- Yarn E Dark Brown (1004)
- A pair of 4mm needles
- Two 4mm double-pointed needles (DPNs) for i-cord
- Toy stuffing
- Small amount of black yarn for embroidery
- Striped ribbon, 2m
- 4 split rings
Front and Back (Make 2)
Cast on 12 sts using 4mm needles and Yarn C.
Row 1 Knit.
Row 2 Purl.
Change to Yarn A
Row 3 Knit.
Row 4 Purl.
Rows 5 to 8 Rep the above four rows once more.
Change to Yarn C.
Row 9 Knit.
Row 10 Purl.
Row 11 K2tog, K8, k2tog. [10 sts]
Row 12 P2tog, P6, p2tog. [8 sts]
Row 13 K2tog, K4, k2tog. [6 sts]
Row 14 P2tog, P2, p2tog. [4 sts]
Row 15 (K2tog) twice. [2 sts]
Cast off.
Sides (Make 2)
Cast on 8 sts using 4mm needles and Yarn C.
Row 1 Knit.
Row 2 Purl.
Change to Yarn A.
Row 3 Knit.
Row 4 Purl.
Rows 5 to 8 Rep the above four rows once more.
Change to Yarn C.
Row 9 Knit.
Row 10 Purl.
Cast off.
Floor
Cast on 12 sts using 4mm needles and Yarn C.
Rows 1 to 9 Starting on a knit row work in st st.
Cast off.
Roof
Cast on 17 sts using 4mm needles and Yarn D.
Rows 1 to 22 Knit every row (garter st).
Cast off.
Roof Eaves (Make 4)
Cast on 13 sts using 4mm needles and Yarn D.
Row 1 (RS) Purl.
Cast off.
Door
Cast on 6 sts using 4mm needles and Yarn E.
Rows 1 to 3 Starting on a knit row work in st st.
Cast off.
Life Buoy
Cast on 12 sts using 4mm needles and Yarn A.
Cast off.
Assembling your beach hut knitted keychain
Cut out cardboard to match the floor, front, back and sides of the hut. Sew the Sides to the Front and Back of the Hut, then sew the Floor to the bottom of the joined walls.
Place the cardboard inside the Hut for stability. Stuff with toy stuffing. Sew the Roof on the top of the Hut. Sew two Roof Eaves to the front of the Hut (one Eave on each side of the peaked roof) and the remaining two Eaves to the side edges of the Roof. Sew the Door to the front of the Hut.
Make the Life Buoy by sewing the cast on and cast-off edges together to make a circle. Attach this to just above the Door.
