Materials
-5mm needles
-Small amounts of cream Aran or DK yarn held double
-Small amounts of beer coloured Aran or DK yarn held double
-Small amounts of light grey Aran or DK yarn held double
-Tapestry/yarn needle for sewing in loose ends
Abbreviations
St(s) = Stitch(es)
CO = Cast on
K = knit row (all rows are K to produce garter stitch)
Inc = Increase by your preferred method (I prefer Kfb for this pattern)
BO = Bind off
Pattern
Begin by casting on in grey, to crate the bottom of the glass, change to beer coloured yarn and work three sets of increases as instructed below. The coaster is finished by changing to cream and knitting the ‘head’ of the beer which you also cast off with.
With 5mm needles, CO10 sts in grey
1 – K1 row
2-7 – Change to beer colour and K 6 rows
8 – K1 stitch, inc 1, K to last 2 sts, inc 1, K1 (12 sts)
9-13 – K 5 rows
14 – K1 stitch, inc 1, K to last 2 sts, inc 1, K1 (14 sts)
15-19 – K 5 rows
20 – K1 stitch, inc 1, K to last 2 sts, inc 1, K1 (16 sts)
21-33 – K 13 rows
34-38 – Change to cream colour and K 5 rows
BO all stitches, weave in ends, enjoy!
