Knitted Rhombus Weave Hat

Introducing the Knitted Rhombus Weave Hat, a stylish and unique accessory that will add a touch of elegance to any outfit. Crafted with care and precision, this hat showcases a beautiful rhombus weave pattern that sets it apart from ordinary knitted hats. Materials:

  • Yarn: Caron, Simply Soft, 6 oz. (170.1 g), 315 yards (288 m) approx. 100% acrylic, in the color "Kelly Green" (9769): 1 skein.
  • Circular knitting needles, 16" (40 cm) long, size US 8 (5 mm).
  • Double pointed needles (DPNs) set, size US 8 (5 mm).
  • Tapestry needle.
  • Stitch marker.


Sizes and measurements:

  • Size S: head circumference = 20" (51 cm), height = 8.25" (21 cm).
  • Size M: head circumference = 22" (56 cm), height = 8.66" (22 cm).
  • Size L:head circumference = 24" (61 cm), height = 9" (23 cm).

Gauge: 14 sts and 23 rounds = 4"x 4" (10 cm x 10 cm) in stockinette stitch.


Yardage:

  • Size S: 100 - 105 yards (90 - 95 m).
  • Size M: 110 - 115 yards (100 - 105 m).
  • Size L: 120 - 125 yards (110 - 115 m) approx.


Knitting Terms:

  • st: stitch.
  • sts: stitches.
  • k: knit.
  • p: purl.
  • k2tog: k 2 stitches together.
  • ssk: slip, slip, knit the two slipped stitches together through back loops.
  • p3tog: purl three sts together.
  • s2s1ktog: slip two sts as if to knit them together, slip the third one knit-wise, knit the three sts together through back loops (centered double decrease).


Instructions:

Cast on 84 (96, 108) sts. Join in the round. Don't know how to join in the round?

Put a ring stitch marker at the beginning of rounds.

Rib round: k 3, p 1, repeat to end.

Repeat the rib round 4 (6, 8) times. Work the pattern rounds as follows:

Rounds 1 and 2: k 5, p 7, repeat to end.

Rounds 3 and 4: p 1, k 5, p 5, k 1, repeat to end.

Rounds 5 and 6: k 1, p 1, k 5, p 3, k 2, repeat to end.

Rounds 7 and 8: k 2, p 1, k 3, repeat to end.

Rounds 9 and 10: k 1, p 3, k 3, p 1, k 4, repeat to end.

Rounds 11 and 12: p 5, k 1, p 1, k 5, repeat to end.

Rounds 13 and 14: p 6, k 5, p 1, repeat to end.

Rounds 15 and 16: p 5, k 5, p 1, k 1, repeat to end.

Rounds 17 and 18: k 1, p 3, k 5, p 1, k 2, repeat to end.

Rounds 19 and 20: k 2, p 1, k 3, repeat to end.

Rounds 21 and 22: k 3, p 1, k 3, p 3, k 2, repeat to end.

Rounds 23 and 24: k 4, p 1, k 1, p 5, k 1, repeat to end.

Rounds 25- 30: repeat row 1.

Decreasing rounds:

Note: to get a neat decreasing pattern,move the stitch marker one stitch forward.

Round 1: k 3, ssk, p 6, k 1, repeat to end. (77, 88, 99) sts

Round 2 and every even number round: k the k sts, p the p sts.

Round 3: k 4, p 5, k2tog, repeat to end. (70, 80, 90) sts

Round 5: k 3, ssk, p 4, k 1, repeat to end. (63, 72, 81) sts

Round 7: k 4, p 3, k2tog, repeat to end. (56, 64, 72) sts

Change to DPNs and continue:

Round 9: k 4, p3tog, k 1, repeat to end. (42, 48, 54) sts

Round 11: s2s1ktog, k 1, p 1, k 1, repeat to end. (28, 32, 36) sts

Round 13: k2tog, *p 1, s2s1ktog, repeat from * to last 2 sts, p 1, k 1. (15, 17, 19) sts

Round 14: k2tog, repeat to last st, k 1.

Cut yarn leaving a 6" (15 cm) long yarn tail, pull it through all sts and tighten tog. Weave in loose ends.
