Knitted Ice Cream
Introducing the Frosty Delight, a unique twist on the classic frozen dessert. This innovative creation takes the concept of ice cream to a whole new level, blending the warmth and charm of knitting with the cool and creamy goodness of everyone's favorite frozen treat. The Frosty Delight is not your ordinary ice cream. Instead of being served in a traditional cone or cup, it is carefully crafted to resemble a knitted masterpiece.
How to Knit an Ice Cream
Complete Size – 6.5cm width x 6.5cm depth x 18cm height (excluding toppings)
What you will need…
Total time – 2 Hours Each Knitted Ice Cream (as shown)
3.25mm knitting needles (UK 10, US 3)
Double knitting yarn – Beige, brown and choice of ice cream colour!

Before You Start…
Abbreviations
K = Knit P = Purl St = Stitch Sts = Stitches
Cast On – I use the thumb method.
St-st = stocking stitch. Alternating a row of knit stitches (right side), with a row of purl stitches (wrong side).
K2tog = Decrease by knitting two stitches together, making one stitch from two.
Inc = Increase – by knitting into the front and the back of the same stitch, to make two stitches out of one.
Cast off – K wise or P wise according to pattern. US – bind off.
B&T tightly – Using sewing up needle, thread yarn through all remaining stitches.

Mix and match – choose your cone style, ice cream flavour (yarn colour), and optional toppings to make your favourite.
How to Make it…
Made from one knitted cone piece in either traditional or waffle-cone style, and one knitted ice cream piece. These are stuffed and sewn together and finished off with a choice of extras including one knitted piece for a wafer, a single knitted piece to form a flake, or some added embroidered sprinkles.

Sewing-up time – 30 Minutes as shown
Sewing Up
Cone Piece – With right side on the outside, begin at the base of the cone and oversew row ends, working towards the cast-on edge. Leave the top end open, and leave a long length of yarn at this stage for later. Stuff lightly with toy filling.
Ice Cream Piece – With right side on the outside, begin at the top of the boule, pulling up tightly and working downwards to oversew row ends, towards cast-on edge. Stuff lightly with toy filling.
Place the ice cream boule on top of the cone and sew into position, keeping the cone edges slighty overlapping the ice cream boule.
Flake – From the cast-on edge, roll up the flake towards the cast-off edge. Now sew along this cast-off edge, catching it into the flake body, to secure the flake in this rolled position. Sew over row ends at the tip of the flake for a neat finish, leaving the bottom end slightly looser. Sew this looser end into place at the edge of your ice cream boule, and fasten off loose ends.
Wafer – Place in the desired position at the side of the ice cream boule, and sew into place. Fasten off all loose ends.
Ensure all pins (if used) are removed when complete.
Make it Different…
As well as coming up with your own designs for toppings and changing the yarn colour for the flavour, it may be helpful to have a look at the birthday cupcakes from last year. Use parts of these patterns to add some other toppings to your ice cream such as sauce (icing) and sprinkles.
These ice creams make great toys for children but as with a cupcake, if it can be kept away from little hands could make a great pin cushion, using the pin heads to look like sprinkles on the top. They may also look nice as a collection making up a decorative piece for the kitchen sideboard in a traditional ice cream holder.
To make things a little more different, you may also wish to adjust the pattern as you see fit. To make it taller, add some additional rows between the decreases, or wider, by amending the number of cast on stitches (and therefore additional decreases in line with it).
