  • Knitting needles No. 3.5
  • Circular knitting needles No. 3.5
  • Set of double-pointed needles No. 3.5

Pattern 1: Diamond Lace Pattern (number of stitches multiple of 8 + 2 edge stitches) – knit according to the chart. It shows the right-side rows. In the wrong-side rows, knit all stitches and yarn overs as purl stitches; if there are two consecutive yarn overs, knit the 1st yarn over as a twisted purl stitch and the 2nd yarn over as a purl stitch. Always repeat the pattern repeat between the edge stitches. Repeat rows 1-16 vertically.

Important: During stitch decreases, make sure that the number of yarn overs and the number of knitted together stitches match.

Pattern 2: Stockinette Stitch. Right-side rows – knit stitches, wrong-side rows – purl stitches.

Pattern 3: Reverse Stockinette Stitch. Right-side rows – purl stitches, wrong-side rows – knit stitches.

Pattern 4: Garter Stitch. Both right-side and wrong-side rows – knit stitches.

I-cord Edge. Cast on 3 stitches and move them to the tip of the left needle of the circular needles before the remaining stitches. * Knit 2, knit 2 stitches together through the back loop, then move these stitches back to the left needle, repeat from * until all stitches are bound off. Then bind off the 3 I-cord stitches.

Gauge:

Pattern 1: 22 sts x 30.5 rows = 10 x 10 cm

Patterns 2 and 3: 22 sts x 33 rows = 10 x 10 cm

Knitting Instructions for Lace Top for Women:

Back: Cast on 146 (154) stitches and knit the bottom band for 1 cm = 1 wrong-side row of knit stitches and 2 rows of purl stitches. Continue the work with Pattern 1. For the side decreases, after 7 cm = 22 rows from the bottom band, bind off 1 stitch on each side, then every 8th row bind off 11 stitches 1 at a time = 122 (130) stitches.

After 42 cm = 128 rows from the bottom band, continue with Pattern 2, decreasing 19 (21) stitches evenly in the 1st row = 103 (109) stitches. For the armholes, after 5.5 cm = 18 rows (4 cm = 14 rows) from the pattern change, bind off 4 stitches on each side, then every 2nd row bind off 2 stitches once and 1 stitch three times = 85 (91) stitches.

After 20 cm = 66 rows from the pattern change, knit 0.5 cm = 2 rows with Pattern 3. Then bind off all stitches, with the middle 25 stitches forming the neckline and the outer 30 (33) stitches forming the shoulders.

Front: Knit similarly to the back, but after 42 cm = 128 rows from the bottom band, continue with Pattern 2. For the 1st size, do not decrease, and for the 2nd size, decrease 2 stitches = 122 (128) stitches.

Important: In the schematic, the decrease for the 2nd size is included in the armhole. For the V-neck, after 2.5 cm = 8 rows from the pattern change, divide the work in the middle and first knit the left half (when worn) on 61 (64) stitches, leaving the other 61 (64) stitches on hold. For the armhole, after 5.5 cm = 18 rows (4 cm = 14 rows) from the pattern change, bind off 5 stitches on the right edge, then every 2nd row bind off 2 stitches once and 1 stitch three times = 51 (54) stitches. For the braided strap, after 10.5 cm = 34 rows from the pattern change, divide the stitches into 3 parts of 17 (18) stitches each and knit 3 separate strips as follows: 3 stitches in Pattern 4, 11 (12) stitches in Pattern 2, 3 stitches in Pattern 4.

After 25 cm = 82 rows from the pattern change, bind off all stitches. Then knit the right half of the front symmetrically using the held 61 (64) stitches.

Cord: Cast on 5 stitches on 2 double-pointed needles and knit as follows: * knit 5, then move the stitches back to the start of the needle, pulling the yarn tightly behind the work, repeat from *. After 130 (140) cm, the cord is ready, bind off all stitches.

Assembly: Braid the 3 strips of each strap (see photo) and sew to the shoulder edges of the back, tucking the garter stitch edges of each strap to the wrong side and securing them. Sew the side seams. Pick up 58 (62) stitches along the armhole edges of the back and front to the braided straps on circular needles and knit the I-cord edges. Thread the cord through the double yarn overs of the last knit row of Pattern 1 and tie in a bow at the front.
