To make Up:

Taking the first handle thread it onto the bag and let it sit on the 8 rows of shaping for handle 1. Secure the handle in place by sewing together the cast on and cast off stitches on either side of the handle. Repeat with handle 2 on the other side of the bag, taking care to ensure the correct side of the bag is on the outside.

With the wrong side facing, carefully sew up the sides of the bag, as you get to the handles carefully open out the fold to extend the seam to the top of the bag on both sides. Keep the coloured stripes aligned with each other as much as possible for that professional look. Next sew up the bottom seam of the bag, this seam should form a T-shape to the side seam on the bag.

If a lining is required it should be attached now and secured in place.
With the outside facing, fold over the top of the bag (6rows of stocking stitch) and secure firmly to main body of the bag, taking care to ensure that the stitching is not seen on the outside of the bag.
