Size of flat knit slippers:
Size: US6/6.5, EU 36/37
Length: 26 cm. For sizes 7, 8, 9 knit the length to be at least 33 mm and cast on 58-60 sts.
Gauge: 18 sts – 4 inches (10 cm)
1.8 sts – 1 cm
26*1.8=46.8=48 sts
Width: 22 cm
To adjust the sock for a better fit, subtract 10% from the width measurement.
22 – 10% = 19.5 cm
19.5 / 3 = 6.5 cm. Change the yarn color every 6.5 cm.
Common abbreviations of knitting stitches:
k – knit
p – purl
st(s) – stitch(es)
sel s – selvage stitch: always slip the first stitch knitwise, work to the last stitch, purl the last stitch.
Flat knit two-color slippers knitting pattern:
MAKE TWO.
Section 1: Using the long tail cast-on method and Color A, cast on 48 stitches or any other number multiple of 2.
Row 1: sel s, knit all stitches, sel s. Turn.
Repeat Row 1 until the piece reaches 6.5 cm. In total, knit 23 rows to achieve this length, ensuring an odd number of rows. Cut Color A.
Color B, Section 2: In the row when you change color, knit the first stitch instead of slipping it.
Row 1: sel s, [k2, p2] – repeat till the end, k2, sel s. Turn.
Row 2: sel s, p2, [k2, p2] – repeat till the end, sel s. Turn.
Repeat Rows 1-2 until section 2 reaches 6.5 cm. In total knit 16 rows for the second section. Cut Color B.
Color A, Section 3.
Row 1: sel s, knit all stitches, sel s. Turn.
Repeat Row 1 until the piece reaches 6.5 cm. In total, knit 22 rows to achieve this length, ensuring an even number of rows.
Using the elastic bind-off method, bind off all stitches. Check the video tutorial if this method is new for you. Cut the yarn leaving a 70 cm long tail.
Using a yarn needle, thread the tail. *Insert the needle from front to back through the loop on the front side and back loop on the other side. Repeat from* along the whole side. When you reach the short side of the seam, go on seaming but already through the front loop on the front side and back loop on the other side. To get rid of the sticking angle thread the tail through the last 8 stitches (4 sts on the right side, 4 sts on the left side), and pull tight close the hole. This is the same as what you usually do to close the hat’s top.
Cut the yarn and weave in the ends.
