Knitting Needle Size9 or 5.5 mm

Yarn Weight(4) Medium Weight/Worsted Weight and Aran (16-20 stitches to 4 inches)

Gauge1 stitches, 2 rows, 3 inches. stockinette stitch

Materials:

  • RED HEART® Boutique Treasure™: 1 ball of 1918 Abstract (Art. E788 available in 3.5 oz (100 g), 151 yd (138 m) balls)
  • Susan Bates® Straight Knitting Needles: 5.5 mm [US 9]
  • Yarn needle

GAUGE: 16 sts = 4” (10 cm), 20 rows = 4” (10 cm) in Pattern Stitch. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size needles to obtain the gauge.

Finished Size: 8” circumference x 10” long (20.3 x 25.4 cm)

Abbreviations:
K = knit
mm = millimeter
st(s) = stitch(es)
yo = yarn over

Special Stitch:
Pass Yo Over = With the point of the left needle, lift the yo over the previous 2 knit stitches and off the needle.

Note: Wristers are worked lengthwise. To check for proper fit, wrap the piece around your hand prior to binding off

WRISTERS (Make 2)
Cast on 40 sts, leaving a long end for sewing
Row 1 (Right side): K1, *yo, K2, pass yo over; repeat from * across to last st, K1.
Row 2: Purl across.
Row 3: K2, *yo, K2, pass yo over; repeat from * across to last 2 sts, K2.
Row 4: Purl across.
Repeat Rows 1-4 for pattern until Wrister measures approximately 8” (20 cm) from cast on edge, ending by working Row 1 or 3.
Bind off all sts loosely in purl. Cut yarn leaving a 12” (30.5 cm) end for sewing.

FINISHING
Thread yarn needle with bind off end. With right sides together, sew seam for 5½” (13.8 cm). Thread yarn needle with cast on end. With right sides together, sew seam for 3” (7.6 cm), leaving a 1½” (3.8 cm) thumb opening.
