  • 50 g of black yarn (75% wool, 25% polyamide, 210 m/50 g).

Stockinette stitch: knit on right side, purl on wrong side; in circular rounds, knit only.

Gauge, stockinette stitch: 28 sts and 40 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Work Description:

For the toe, cast on 6 sts with brown yarn on double-pointed needles and increase 12 sts as per general knitting rules (see below). Knit in stockinette stitch. To expand, add on both sides of the two middle stitches, increase in every 2nd row 9 (10) 11 x 4 sts = 54 (58) 62 sts. Then continue in stockinette stitch.

After 16 (18) 19 cm from the toe, increase for the foot arch gusset in every 2nd row 7 (8) 9 x 2 sts. Between the third increases for the arch gusset, increase for the heel in every 2nd row 5 (6) 7 x 2 sts = 78 (86) 94 sts. Then, on the middle 16 (18) 20 sts of the sole, knit the heel cup in stockinette stitch, slipping the last or first stitch of the heel cup with a side stitch of the sole together 10 (12) 14 times = 58 (62) 66 sts.

Then for the ankle, knit all stitches in stockinette stitch, in the first circular round slip the last stitch of the heel cup with the next stitch together as one, and the first stitch of the heel cup with the previous stitch together knitwise = 56 (60) 64 sts. After 6.5 (7) 7.5 cm from the start of the ankle, knit 1 circular round purl and bind off all stitches. Make 2 socks.

For the strap, cast on 10 sts with black yarn on double-pointed needles, join in the round and knit in stockinette stitch. After 22 (24) 26 cm from the cast-on edge, bind off all stitches. Sew the holes at both ends. Attach one end to the middle bar of the buckle. Make 2 straps and wrap them around the socks (see photo). Thread the second end of each strap through the buckle.
