- Super Bulky yarn
- Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick and Quick in Black, Grass, Mustard for the beanie and Spice for the pom pom or similar
- 25-70 Grass, 5-10 yards Black, a small amount of Mustard for the belt buckle and approx. 15-30 yards Spice for the pom pom

2″ = 5 sts x 7 rows in stockinette with super bulky yarn on 10 mm (US 15) needles

Notes

- Your stitch count is in parentheses at the end of relevant rounds.
- This pattern is written so that the brim is very fitted. If you knit tightly or like a looser brim, I recommend casting on with a larger size needle before switching to 8 mm US 11 needles for the rest of the brim or using 9 mm US 13 needles for the entire brim for a looser fit.
- The hat is knit with the black stripe included on the body and then the belt buckle is added in duplicate stitch afterwards.
- Duplicate stitch is a technique where you use the same or thicker yarn in a contrast color and embroider into the stitches already created; making a pattern over the top.
Teen/Adult Size
21.5-23″ head circumference, 8.75-9″ length laid flat.
Co 40 sts with 1 strand of CA super bulky yarn on 8 mm 16” circulars, join in the round and pm.
Brim
Rounds 1-7 – CA, *K1, P1*.
**Switch to US size 15 10 mm 16” circulars**.
Body
Round 1 – CA, K all sts.
Rounds 2-8 – CB, K all sts.
Drop CB, leaving a tail for sewing later.
Round 9 – CA, K all sts.
Continue to K each round in CA until hat reaches 7.5-8″ in height.
Decrease
Round 1 – *K2tog, K2* (30).
Round 2 – K all sts.
Round 3 – *K2tog, K1* (20).
Round 4 – K all sts.
Round 5 – *K2tog* (10), leave a 10 inch tail and tie off, weave tail through remaining stitches and cinch closed.
Finishing
Add duplicate stitch belt buckle to the body using CC, Mustard.
Weave in all ends.
Make and add pom pom using Spice if desired.
