Knitting instructions:
Bag size: 39 cm x 38 cm.
You will need
- 300 g of INCA sectional dyeing yarn (53% wool, 47% acrylic; 100 g/100 m) No. 100 in a gray-brown range.
- 6 m of thin gray cotton cord.
- 69.5 cm of matching lining fabric.
- Size 9 knitting needles.
- Size 6 crochet hook.
Stockinette stitch: knit all rows.
Gauge: 10 x 10 cm = 9 sts x 22 rows in stockinette stitch.
Work Execution
Front piece: With the knitting needles, cast on 25 sts and work in stockinette stitch for 5 cm. Then increase 5 sts at the beginning of each row on both sides (= 35 sts). Continue in stockinette stitch. At a height of 37 cm on the right side of the work, knit 1 row as follows: * k2tog, yarn over *, repeat from * to * and end the row with 1 knit stitch. In the next (purl) row, knit all sts and yarn overs purlwise. Knit another 5 cm in stockinette stitch and bind off all sts.
Back piece: Work as the front piece.
Handles: Combine a triple fold of yarn in the gray-brown range with the cord and crochet two chains of 80 cm each.
Assembly and finishing
Sew the front and back pieces of the bag together. Cut out the lining from the fabric and sew it into the bag below the row with yarn overs. Thread one cord through the row with yarn overs on the front side of the bag, and the other on the inside back of the bag.
