Description for knitting a women's top

Back/Front: Cast on 156 (168) 188 (204) sts on circular needles No. 3.5, join the stitches in a round and continue knitting in the round (attach a marker at the beginning of the round). Knit 20 rounds in stockinette stitch.

Switch to circular needles No. 5 and continue knitting in seed stitch in the round until the length of the seed stitch section is 32 (33) 34 (35) cm. Then proceed to form the armholes: knit 38 (41) 46 (50) sts in seed stitch and bind off 2 sts (back), knit 76 (82) 92 (100) sts in seed stitch (front), bind off 2 sts and knit another 38 (41) 46 (50) sts in seed stitch (back).

Turn the work and finish the back, dividing it into 2 separate pieces to form a slit at the back.

First part of the back: Continue knitting in seed stitch until the seed stitch section is 50 (51) 53 (54) cm long. Bind off all stitches.

Second part of the back: Complete as the first part.

Front: Knit back and forth in seed stitch on all 76 (82) 92 (100) sts until the seed stitch section is 45 (46) 48 (49) cm long.

To shape the neckline, bind off the middle 20 sts and finish each side separately. From the inner edge, decrease as follows: 1 time 2 sts and 2 times 1 st.

Continue knitting in seed stitch straight until the front matches the back length. Bind off the remaining stitches for the shoulder seams.

Assembly: Sew the shoulder seams.

Neckline band: Using needles No. 3.5, pick up 76 (80) 88 (90) sts along the neckline edge and knit 4 rows in stockinette stitch:

1st row (wrong side): purl all stitches.

2nd row (buttonhole row): 1 knit, knit 2 sts together, yarn over, knit to the end of the row.

3rd row: purl all stitches.

4th row: knit all stitches.

Bind off all stitches.

Armhole edge: Using needles No. 3.5, pick up 94 (94) 100 (102) sts along the armhole edge and knit 1 round in stockinette stitch. Bind off all stitches.

Gathered seam with elastic tape: Fold the bottom band to the wrong side halfway and sew the seam.

Note: When sewing the seam, leave an opening for threading the elastic tape. Thread the elastic tape through, join the ends, and sew the opening closed. Sew the button to the top of the back.
