Shawl collar. Using needles No. 5.5, cast on 46 stitches and knit for the band 14.5 cm = 34 rows with ribbing. Switch to needles No. 6 and continue working with the openwork pattern. After 162.5 cm = 390 rows (174.5 cm = 418 rows) 186.5 cm = 448 rows from the band, switch to needles No. 5.5 and knit for the second band 14.5 cm = 34 rows with ribbing. Bind off all stitches.

Bind off all stitches. Fold the piece in half, matching the cast-on edge and the opposite bind-off edge, and sew the edges between markers A and B, and respectively C and D, along lengths of 16 (17) 18 cm, catching only one of the double edge stitches = leaving sections of 28.5 (30.5) 32.5 cm open for the armholes.
