Instructions:

Size of the cap: 55-57

You will need:

  • 100 g of wool blend yarn (50% wool, 50% acrylic, 1600 m per 100 g);
  • Plastic visor;
  • Matching spool thread;
  • Needles size 2.5.

The headwear consists of three parts: an oval crown, a rectangular back piece (24 x 32 cm), and a rectangular front piece (24 x 22 cm).

To start, create fabric patterns for the parts (see pic. 1), baste them together, and try them on.

Note: The pattern includes a 0.5 cm seam allowance. Adjust the pattern if necessary. Then, knit a 2x2 ribbing sample to determine the knitting gauge. This will help you avoid errors and achieve the desired size.

Work Execution

Begin by knitting the back piece, paying attention to the knitting direction-ribbing stripes run from bottom to top. The next step is to knit the rectangular front piece, where the ribbing stripes are horizontal. Then, knit the oval crown in ribbing, shaping the contours according to the pattern.

Fold the finished front and back pieces in half, then place them together. Sew the pieces together along the short sides using the main thread, or stitch them with a sewing machine. Then, sew the crown to the upper edge of the band. Insert the plastic visor between the knitted layers of the front piece, positioning it firmly against the fold. Stitch along the inner edge of the visor to secure its position. Try to stretch the knitted fabric of the lower front piece as much as possible so that the vertical height along the forehead is reduced by no more than 2-3 cm.
