Yarn:
Red Heart Nylon Crochet Thread: 100% nylon, thread size 18 / yarn size 1 (17 wpi, thread weight), 150 yds
Teal 0053: Color A, 100 g
Red 0091: Color B, 80 g

Needles:
US – 7, 4.5 mm 16″ circular needles

21 sts x 32 rows = 4” [10 cm] in mesh (as in pattern)

Other supplies:
8″ round aluminum basket base with 48 holes
yarn needle
stitch marker

Getting Started:
  • Round counts are at the end of each row after the period, if the count has changed from the previous round. – {count here}
  • For this bag it is recommended that the unused color is carried on the inside of the bag, as this yarn tends to unravel easily, so less ends to weave in are a good thing!
  • To make bag wider add multiples of 3 to the cast on. Each multiple of 3 will add just over 1/2″
  • To make bag taller or shorter make more or less stripes. Each stripe is about 1″ tall.

Knit Camping Shower Bag Body

With Color A, cast on 108 sts leaving a 3 foot long starting tail. Place marker and begin working in rounds.

Rnd 1: K all.
Rnd 2: [K2tog, yo] around.
Rnd 3: K all.
Rnd 4: [Yo, k2tog] around.
Rnds 5 – 8: Repeat Rnds 1-4.

Change Color.
Repeat Rnds 1-8.
Continue repeat Rnds 1-8, changing colors after every repeat of Rnd 8, until there are 5 stripes of each color.

Knit Camping Shower Bag Top

Rnds 1-4: With Color A, k all.
Rnd 5: [K2tog, yo, k1] around.
Rnds 6 – 8: K all.
Bind off all sts knit wise.

Finishing

Use starting tail to sew cast on edge to basket bottom.

Weave in all ends.

Cut 6 strands of each color that are 36″ long.
Make 2 braids, each with 6 of the strands.
Weave one braid through the eyelets in the bag top, tie ends of braid together.
Starting on the opposite side of where the first braid was woven through, weave second braid through the eyelets in the bag top, then tie ends of braid together.
