Continue with the pattern until the total length of the fabric reaches 23 cm, finishing with a pattern row.

Decrease row: (WS) (1 purl st., 1 knit st.) twice, 2 purl sts., p2tog purlwise, 3 knit sts., p2tog purlwise, 5 purl sts., p2tog purlwise, 3 knit sts., p2tog purlwise, 2 purl sts., (1 knit st., 1 purl st.) twice = 27 sts.

Front and back parts: Starting with a knit row, work in stockinette stitch until the piece measures 43 cm from the last cable row. End with a purl row. Next row: 1 knit st., * 1 purl st., 1 knit st., repeat from * to end of row. Next row: 1 purl st., * 1 knit st., 1 purl st., repeat from * to end of row. Next row: 1 purl st., * 1 knit st., 1 purl st., repeat from * to end of row. Bind off, maintaining the stitch pattern.

Strap: Cast on 11 sts with needles No. 7. 1st row: (RS) 5 knit sts., 1 purl st., 5 knit sts. 2nd row: 5 purl sts., 1 knit st., 5 purl sts. Repeat these 2 rows until the strap measures 122 cm. To adjust the length of the strap, "try it on": throw it over the shoulder diagonally. If the strap is too long, unravel the extra rows; if too short, knit the needed amount. Bind off.

Finishing: Press each piece according to the yarn care instructions. Place the strap parts together, wrong sides facing inward, and join them along the entire length with a backstitch seam, ensuring the stitches are small enough. Thread the corsetry ribbon through the strap, trimming any excess ribbon. Fold the stockinette stitch-knitted part of the bag in half, wrong sides together, so that the cast-on edge aligns with the last row of the flap cables. This will form a pocket with a height of 23 cm. Sew the side seams.

Place the bag on a flat surface with the back side facing up. Measure 2.5 cm from the cables and mark these points. Align the ends of the strap with these marks and sew them in place, securing from the marks to the top edge of the bag. Ensure the strap does not twist.

Lining: Measure the finished bag in height (from the cast-on edge to the bound-off edge) and in width. Cut the lining according to these measurements, adding 1 cm for seam allowance all around. Fold the top and bottom edges of the lining fabric towards the wrong side for seam allowances. Fold the lining, wrong sides together, to form a pocket with a height of 23 cm. Pin in place and sew the side seams. Fold the seam allowances of the flap lining.

Insert the lining and the piece of cardboard into the bag (the cardboard should be placed between the back of the bag and the lining). Pin in place and sew the lining to the bag with an invisible stitch around the entire perimeter of the opening and around the flap. Fold over the flap.
