Instructions:

Sizes: 34/36 (42/44)

Materials Needed: Yarn (96% cotton, 4% polyester; 160 m/50 g) - 350 (400) g bright pink; needles No. 3.5; crochet hook No. 3.5; 1 button with a diameter of approx. 25 mm.

Pattern 1: Stockinette stitch. Right-side rows - knit stitches, wrong-side rows - purl stitches.

Pattern 2: Wavy pattern (number of stitches multiple of 18 + 2 edge stitches) - knit according to chart 1. Only right-side rows are shown; in wrong-side rows, knit all stitches and yarn overs purl. Start with 1 edge stitch, then constantly repeat the pattern repeat, end with stitches after the repeat and 1 edge stitch. Vertically, constantly repeat rows 1-4.

Pattern 3: Openwork pattern (number of stitches multiple of 10 + 8 (6) + 2 edge stitches). Knit as Pattern 2, but according to chart 2. In wrong-side rows, for consecutive yarn overs, knit the 1st yarn over purl, the 2nd yarn over purl twisted. Start with 1 edge stitch and stitches before the pattern repeat (stitch from arrow A), then constantly repeat the pattern repeat, end with stitches after the repeat (stitches after arrow B) and 1 edge stitch. Vertically, knit rows 1-20 once, then constantly repeat rows 5-20.

Knitting Gauge: Pattern 2 - 25 sts x 28 rows = 10 x 10 cm; Pattern 3 - 25 sts x 31.5 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Instructions for Knitting an Openwork Cardigan

Back: Cast on 110 (128) sts and knit 1 wrong-side row knitwise (this row is not included in further calculations), then continue working in Pattern 2.

After 15 cm = 42 rows from the cast-on edge, continue working in Pattern 3.

After 31 cm = 98 rows (34 cm = 108 rows) from the pattern change, bind off all stitches, with the middle 40 (42) stitches forming the neckline, and the outer 35 (43) stitches forming the shoulders.

Left Front: Cast on 56 (66) sts and knit 1 wrong-side row knitwise, then continue working in Pattern 2, ending with stitches up to arrow A and 1 edge stitch for size 2.

After 15 cm = 42 rows from the cast-on edge, continue working in Pattern 3, in the 1st row after and before the edge stitch, increase 1 knit stitch from the crossbar = 58 (68) sts. Start Pattern 3 with 1 edge stitch and stitches before arrow A, constantly repeat the pattern repeat, end with stitches up to arrow B and 1 edge stitch.

For the neckline, after 23.5 cm = 74 rows (26.5 cm = 84 rows) from the pattern change, bind off 6 (8) sts from the left edge and shape the neckline by binding off 2 x 4 sts, 2 x 2 sts, and 5 x 1 st in every 2nd row. At the height of the back, bind off the remaining 35 (43) shoulder stitches.

Right Front: Knit symmetrically to the left front, starting Pattern 2 for size 2 with 1 edge stitch and stitches from arrow B, knitting the 1st stitch after arrow B knitwise at the beginning of the row. Sleeves: For each sleeve, cast on 74 (84) sts and knit 1 wrong-side row knitwise and 17 cm = 48 rows in Pattern 2, knitting the 5 stitches before/after the edge stitch as follows for size 2: * 1st row: knit stitches, 2nd + 4th rows: purl stitches, 3rd row: purl stitches, constantly repeat from *. In the last row, evenly increase 4 sts = 78 (88) sts.

Continue working in Pattern 3, distributing the stitches as on the left front. For sleeve shaping, increase 1 x 1 st after 15 cm = 48 rows from the pattern change, then 3 x 1 st in every 8th row, knitting them in Pattern 1 = 86 (96) sts.

After 26.5 cm = 84 rows from the pattern change, bind off all stitches.

Assembly: Sew the shoulder seams. Sew in the sleeves. Sew the side and sleeve seams. Crochet the neckline and front edges with a "reverse single crochet" stitch (single crochet from left to right). At the upper corner of the right front, make a button loop: secure the yarn and crochet a chain of approx. 7 chain stitches, secure the other end of the chain to the edge of the front 2 cm away. Sew the button to the left front (approx. 1.5 cm from the neckline/front edge).
